Jever — City of Jever Pils

Jever is known worldwide through the Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever AG and its famous Jever Pils – one of Germany's driest and most bitter Pilsner beers. The brewery has shaped the cityscape and the identity of the Friesenstadt for generations, and the close connection between the city and the brewery is one of Jever's hallmarks. With the new Bierfest on the Alter Markt, this connection will be celebrated for the first time in its own festival format in 2026.

Premiere 2026 on the Alter Markt

The Bierfest 2026 is the premiere of a new festival format. The Alter Markt – Jever's historic center with its medieval buildings – forms the ideal backdrop for a beer festival that combines tradition and modernity. Over two festival days, beers from the Radeberger Group (to which the Jever brewery belongs) will be served, including, of course, Jever Pils, but also other beer specialties from the Radeberger family. This makes the diversity of modern beer culture tangible even in the traditional Pilsner city.

Live Music and Food

The two festival days will be accompanied by live music, which ensures a proper festival atmosphere and enables shared celebration, dancing, and singing. Food offerings complete the experience: classic German beer accompaniments such as Bratwurst, Currywurst, Brezn (pretzels), Schnitzel, and hearty specialties will be offered. The atmosphere of a beer festival – beer benches, conviviality, live music – will be staged on the Alter Markt, outdoors or under pavilions.

Embedded in the Varel Event Calendar

With the Bierfest Jever, the city will gain a new event in 2026, complementing the existing offerings of Kiewittmarkt (March), Arts and Crafts Market (May), Mill Day (May), and other events. If the premiere is successful, the format could establish itself as an annual tradition and enrich the spring offerings of the Friesenstadt with an important date.
