World Show of Bernese Mountain Dogs for the 135th anniversary of the St. Bernhard Club on May 23 and 24, 2026, at the Klosterhotel Wöltingerode in Goslar
The Bernese Mountain Dog is one of the oldest and most well-known dog breeds in the world – primarily famous for its history as a rescue dog at the Great St. Bernard Pass in the Swiss Valais. With its massive stature, calm temperament, and characteristic red-and-white or brindle coat, the Bernese Mountain Dog is a breed that has captivated generations. The St. Bernhard Club e.V. is the German breeding club that has been overseeing the breed's welfare and breeding in Germany for 135 years.
In 2026, the St. Bernhard Club e.V. celebrates its 135th anniversary – an occasion marked with special festive culture. The Bernese Mountain Dog World Show in Goslar combines the international scope of a WUSB show (World Union of St. Bernhard Clubs) with the national character of the anniversary.
The Klosterhotel Wöltingerode in Goslar provides an extraordinary festive backdrop. This former 12th-century Cistercian monastery, now used as a hotel and distillery, offers a dignified setting for the international show with its historic walls, expansive monastery courtyard, and surrounding landscape park. The architecture and atmosphere of the complex harmonize with the traditional breed.
Saturday is dedicated to the international WUSB show. WUSB stands for World Union of St. Bernhard Clubs and unites Bernese Mountain Dog clubs from around the world. At this show, dogs from various countries are judged according to international standards, and the best representatives of the breed are awarded. International judges assess the dogs based on breed characteristics, movement, and temperament.
Sunday features the national anniversary show of the German St. Bernhard Club. Here, German breeders and their dogs take center stage. The anniversary show honors 135 years of breeding work in Germany and showcases the current successes and leading dogs of German Bernese Mountain Dog breeding.
In parallel with the show, a handicraft market with around 30 exhibitors takes place. Regional artisans and artists present jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, and much more. This combination of exhibition and market creates a special atmosphere and makes the visit interesting even for non-dog fans.
Admission is free. This makes the event open to everyone – from professional breeders and Bernese Mountain Dog enthusiasts to families who simply want to see the famous dogs.
The former Cistercian monastery, with its historic ambiance and expansive monastery complex, offers a unique setting for the World Show. International breeders and dogs from all over the world are expected in Goslar.
