Afro-Cuban Festival with its Own Signature

The Berlin Salsa Festival - Fiesta Elegante is part of the Afro-Cuban Berlin Festival network and differs from other European Salsa festivals in two ways: Firstly, the pedagogical concept is paramount - with workshops emphasizing Afro-Cuban roots and dance context (Son, Rumba, Afro-Cuban Roots, Salsa, Timba, Reggaeton, Fusion). Secondly, the festival deliberately reduces stage shows in favor of more social dance time - the organizers want guests to dance, not just watch. Approximately 90% of the workshops are taught in English, and international dancers from over 30 countries attend.

Two Editions Per Year

The festival runs twice a year in Berlin: Spring (in March / Atelier Gardens Schöneberg) and Autumn (October, new at "Embassade"). The 2026 autumn edition - Fiesta Elegante - runs from Thursday, October 9th, to Sunday, October 12th, 2026. The new venue is located directly on a lake, and the concept promises a natural backdrop, summer evening ambiance, and an elegant dress code for the Saturday gala.

Workshops and Dance Levels

The festival schedule includes workshops for all levels - from open level (beginners and returning dancers) to advanced. Content includes classic Cuban Son, Afro-Cuban Roots, Salsa, Timba, Reggaeton, and Fusion styles. Pre-registration for individual workshops is not necessary - the festival pass covers all workshops and parties. Dancers can come solo or with a partner; there is no partner commitment required.

Gender Balance and Atmosphere

The festival maintains an unusually consistent gender balance in ticket sales: 58% followers and 42% leaders - one of the few major Salsa festivals in Europe that systematically controls this. The result: less waiting time at parties, a fairer distribution on the dance floor. Ticket transfers are possible free of charge until February 2026; cloakroom service costs €2 per item. Dress code for the Saturday evening gala: evening wear recommended, but not mandatory.
