Autumn Market in the historic spa park — Nature, Crafts, and Lippisches Pickert
Horn-Bad Meinberg is located in the Lippe district, at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest, and combines two historic villages: medieval Horn with its castle ruins and Wilhelminian-era Bad Meinberg with its spa park, once one of Westphalia's most important spa resorts. In autumn, when the spa park's trees glow in red, gold, and brown, the farmers' market invites you to a weekend full of natural beauty and regional products.
Stalls in the spa park, along the avenue, and at Heinrich-Drake-Platz present the regional harvest diversity: pumpkins, apples, pears, potatoes, sauerkraut, honey from local beekeepers, jams, homemade bread, smoked sausages, cheeses from Lippe, liqueurs, and brandies. In addition, wood crafts (carvings, furniture, toys), leather goods, ceramics, floristry (autumnal wreaths and bouquets). A farmers' breakfast with fried potatoes, eggs, and bacon is a morning tradition — in the evening, Lippisches Pickert, a flat yeast dough flatbread with raisins, served with liverwurst, lard, or jam.
Pickert is THE regional soul food of Lippe — a yeasty pan bread with raisins, slightly sweet, often served with savoury toppings. Freshly baked at the farmers' market and served hot. Anyone who wants to understand Lippe must try Pickert.
The spa park with its old trees, paths, and pavilions is a gem of Lippe's spa history. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Bad Meinberg was considered the "King's Spa" — less frequented today, but scenically impressive. The spa park serves as a natural backdrop for the farmers' market.
In addition to the farmers' market, a creative market with arts and crafts and design products is planned. Specific dates and exhibitors will be announced in the summer week of 2026 — via the town's website.
The town of Horn-Bad Meinberg has around 17,000 inhabitants and belongs to the Lippe district (Detmold as district town). It lies in the shadow of the Externsteine — one of Germany's most famous natural monuments — and is part of the Teutoburg Forest tourism region. The farmers' market is part of a rich event calendar that enlivens the region throughout the year.
The 2026 farmers' market will run in its traditional format with an expanded creative market offering (planning underway). The atmosphere of the historic spa park amidst autumn foliage provides an exceptional market backdrop.
Creative market with arts and crafts and design products — planning for 2026 is ongoing. Updates at hornbadmeinberg.de.
