Traditional village fair in the Bartshausen district of Hardegsen with a folk festival character
The Bartshäuser Kirmes is one of the traditional village fair events in the western Göttingen district. It has a long tradition of Lower Saxony village fairs, which originally went back to the church patron saint's festival of the respective village and developed over the centuries into folk festivals with festival tents, carousels, and dance evenings.
The centerpiece of the Kirmes is the festival tent with its evening dance events. A live band or dance orchestra provides the musical accompaniment; the festival tent is a meeting point for the village population and their guests from surrounding villages. Classic styles range from folk music and Schlager to cover classics and party hits.
A small folk festival area with a carousel, shooting gallery, candy stands, and snacks complements the festival tent program. This gives the Kirmes its classic folk festival character, which is particularly attractive to children and families.
Organization and management are in the hands of the Bartshausen village community and local clubs (fire department, sports club, heritage society). The participation of the clubs ensures a broad volunteer base and makes the Kirmes a community-building village festival at the same time.
The 2026 edition continues the traditional village fair. The exact date and program will be published in due course by the Bartshausen village community on the municipal event page.
