The Dürkheimer Riesenfass

The Dürkheimer Riesenfass is one of the most famous landmarks in the Palatinate region: an oversized wine barrel, 13.5 meters high with a capacity of 1.7 million liters, built in 1934 and now functioning as a restaurant. Inside the barrel are dining rooms, a bar, and event spaces – the unusual architecture makes every visit a special experience. For wine events like the WeinKür, the Riesenfass offers an incomparable atmosphere.

Riesling in Focus

Riesling is the quintessential Palatinate top wine and one of the most internationally renowned German white wines. The Palatinate, after Rheinhessen, is the second-largest Riesling-growing region in Germany and produces a wide variety of styles: from dry, mineral Rieslings from the grand cru sites of the Mittelhardt to off-dry Rieslings, and noble sweet Auslesen, Beerenauslesen, and Trockenbeerenauslesen. The WeinKür presents a carefully curated selection of these styles.

Bad Dürkheimer Weinnächte

The WeinKür is part of the Bad Dürkheimer Weinnächte, a multi-part event series organized by the town of Bad Dürkheim in February and March, combining various wine events. In addition to the WeinKür, these include the Weinbergnacht, the Forum Pfalz, and other tastings. The series turns the winter in Bad Dürkheim into a wine high season and positions the town not only as the location of the world's largest wine festival (Wurstmarkt in September) but also as a year-round wine mecca.
