100th anniversary of the Loga Schützenfest with Volksfest activities
When a Schützenverein (marksmen's club) turns 100, it's an occasion for a special celebration. The Schützenverein Loga, founded in 1926, looks back on a century of club history in 2026 and celebrates this from September 4th to 9th with a Schützen- und Volksfest that pulls out all the stops.
The history of the Schützenverein Loga is also a piece of the history of the Loga district in Leer. In the hundred years since its founding, the club has supported social development, preserved traditions, and repeatedly inspired new generations for the marksmen's sport. The anniversary honors this continuity while also looking forward.
The festival week spans six days, significantly longer than the usual duration of a Schützenfest. This extension reflects the anniversary character and allows for a particularly rich program. Various sources mention both September 4th to 6th (the core program) and September 4th to 9th (the overall program) – the exact daily focuses will be communicated by the club on-site.
The Schützenplatz Leer-Loga serves as the festival center. A large festival tent, rides for the whole family, food and drink stalls, and the club rooms create the infrastructure for the festival week. The area is designed to accommodate thousands of visitors.
Marksmen's parades (Schützenausmärsche), the proclamation of the king, and festive processions are part of the classic repertoire of a Schützenfest and will also be duly celebrated in Loga. The king or queen for the anniversary year will bear a very special responsibility – they will represent the club in its 100th year.
Beyond the club traditions, the festival has a distinct Volksfest character. Rides and carousels for children, high-speed attractions for teenagers and adults, all kinds of showman's businesses – the festival is also a magnet for visitors who have no direct connection to the club but appreciate the East Frisian Volksfest experience.
The 2026 edition is a special anniversary celebration being prepared with particular effort. The Schützenverein has designed an expanded program that combines traditional marksmen's elements with a Volksfest atmosphere.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the Schützenverein in the summer. The structure follows the established cornerstones of a Schützenfest:
Schützenplatz Leer-Loga, 26789 Leer (Ostfriesland).
Friday, September 4th to Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 (6 festival days).
Free entry to the festival grounds. Rides and stalls are subject to charge.
