Over two decades, the Aurich Wine & Gourmet Festival has become a firm fixture of the summer calendar in East Frisia. With its 20th edition in 2026, the festival reaches an anniversary year, traditionally celebrated with a slightly expanded program. The venue is the central Aurich Market Square, which will be transformed into an open wine and delicacy lounge for three days.
A World of Wine
The focus is on the wine stalls: German growing regions (Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Mosel, Baden, Franken) meet European classics (Italy, France, Spain, Austria) and surprises from overseas (South Africa, California, New Zealand). Visitors can sample by the glass, receive advice, and buy directly from the winemakers. This diversity distinguishes the Aurich festival from purely regional wine festivals.
Culinary Specialties
The wine selection is accompanied by a gourmet axis: street food stalls, cheese and sausage specialties, Mediterranean antipasti, Flammkuchen, tapas, and sweet treats. Aurich restaurateurs complement the offerings with their specialties. Live music in the background shapes the atmosphere without becoming the main attraction.
Long Opening Hours as a Trademark
The extended opening hours (Thursdays until midnight, Fridays until 1 AM, Saturdays until 2 AM) make the festival a relaxed evening destination. The 20th edition in 2026 has been announced as a summer highlight by Aurich Tourism and ostfriesland.travel. Experience from previous years shows: around 30–40 wine stalls, a dozen gourmet providers, and several musical acts spread across the three evenings.

Three-Day Structure (Based on Previous Years)
The exact lineup for 2026 will be published on aurich-tourismus.de and ostfriesland.travel. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
- Thursday, July 16th (from 10 AM): festive opening of the anniversary festival, opening of the wine stalls, culinary lunch offerings, live music in the afternoon and evening, closing at midnight
- Friday, July 17th: full day with high visitor frequency, main concert in the evening, closing at 1 AM
- Saturday, July 18th: highlight of the weekend with the longest opening hours until 2 AM, closing with a live concert and relaxed lounge atmosphere
