Summer arts and crafts market with baking day in the historic bakehouse on the grounds of the Syke District Museum
The Arts and Crafts Market at the Syke District Museum has established itself as a platform for high-quality craftsmanship. Around 90 exhibitors from all over Germany are strictly selected based on quality and originality. Visitors will not find industrially manufactured souvenirs at the market, but handmade individual pieces, ranging from ceramics and woodwork to jewelry, textiles, glass, and leather goods.
Parallel to the market, volunteer helpers fire up the historic bakehouse on the museum grounds. The more than 400-year-old bakehouse produces fresh bread according to old recipes during the market. Visitors can watch the baking process and buy the freshly baked bread on-site – a rare opportunity to experience traditional craftsmanship in full operation.
The Syke District Museum is one of the most important open-air museums in the Diepholz district. The extensive grounds feature historic buildings, a farmhouse garden, the bakehouse, and exhibition rooms. During the Arts and Crafts Market, exhibitors use the paths between the houses, so a stroll through the market is also a tour of the museum.
Admission and catering are family-friendly. There are seating areas, a café, and several snack stands on the grounds. The market is a popular destination for anyone looking for special gifts, decorative home accessories, or simply an inspiring Sunday outing.
The paths between the historic buildings of the open-air museum become the marketplace, and the farmhouse garden becomes the backdrop for a relaxed stroll. Exhibitors and visitors engage in conversations about materials, techniques, and inspiration, making the market an authentic craft experience.
The Syke District Museum will publish the exact program and the complete list of exhibitors on kreismuseum-syke.de.
