Big family festival on Bamberg's Jahnwiese — over 15 bouncy castles, stage program, children's flea market, and hands-on activities with free admission
Bamberg is an independent city in the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Franconia and a UNESCO World Heritage site with its historic old town. The AOK Family Days are its major family festival: For three days in May, the Jahnwiese transforms into a huge playground, activity area, and meeting place for families from the city and the surrounding district.
The centerpiece is over 15 bouncy castles, complemented by a human foosball, numerous hands-on stands from local clubs, and a large children's flea market. The stage features live music and a colorful program. Children can romp, craft, and try things out to their heart's content — a festival tailored entirely to the needs of families.
As co-organizer, the AOK brings in offers related to health, exercise, and nutrition: health advice, physical activity programs, and activities focusing on education, leisure, and sports complement the play program. Thus, the festival combines fun with the theme of a healthy family.
The organizers are Stadtmarketing Bamberg e.V., AOK Bamberg, and VR-Bank Bamberg-Forchheim. Numerous Bamberg clubs run the hands-on stands — the festival is understood as a celebration of community and diversity in the World Heritage city.
Bamberg, the "Franconian Rome" on seven hills, is a tourist attraction in Upper Franconia. The AOK Family Days are a fixed date in the event calendar in May and attract families from the entire region. Admission is free.
