Medieval Times in the Palace Park
ANNO 1292 Celle transports its visitors to the world of the late Middle Ages for three days. The venue is the Celle Palace Park surrounding the Welfenschloss – a backdrop that seems tailor-made for a historical spectacle of this kind. The combination of park, palace, and camp setting creates an atmosphere that many modern venues cannot offer.
Crafts and Market Life
The focus is on the craft stalls: blacksmiths, woodturners, leatherworkers, bow makers, potters, basket weavers, dyers, felt makers, candlemakers, glassblowers. Many stalls work live before the eyes of the visitors, demonstrating the techniques that shaped everyday medieval life.
Spectacle and Music
During the day and in the evening, jugglers, combat reenactors, fire artists, and medieval music groups provide a lively stage program. Market criers announce the day's highlights, drummers march along the paths, and minstrels provide the musical accompaniment. As darkness falls, torches and fire baskets create a special mood.
Medieval Food
The gastronomy focuses on historically inspired dishes: suckling pig, farmer's skewers, flatbreads, cauldron soups, beer and mead, spiced hot drinks. Vegetarian options are common today and not rare.
Family-Friendly
ANNO 1292 is explicitly designed as a family-friendly festival. A dedicated children's program, safe hands-on activities (bread on a stick, felting, archery for children), and the open camp life appeal to families. The market is organized in cooperation with the City of Celle.
