About Sunday Serenades Amberg

From May to September, the charming Malteser Garden in Amberg transforms into a summer stage every Sunday evening. With free admission, brass bands, music clubs, big bands, and Kirwabands (traditional festival bands) play a varied programme from 7 to 8 PM – from hearty brass music to festival sounds. This traditional concert series by the City of Amberg in the Upper Palatinate administrative region is a firm fixture of summer life in the historic old town.

The Amberg Sunday Serenades 2026 will take place every Sunday from May 17 to September 6 at 7 PM in the Malteser Garden. The Knappschaftskapelle Amberg traditionally opens and closes the series on Sunday, May 17. In between, numerous brass bands, music clubs, and bands from the region play with free admission.

The 2026 edition of the Amberg Sunday Serenades runs from May 17 to September 6. Every Sunday evening from 7 to 8 PM, a different ensemble performs in the Malteser Garden – weather permitting and with free admission.

Traditionally, the Knappschaftskapelle Amberg kicks off and concludes the event on Sunday, May 17. Throughout the summer, groups such as the Vogelhorn-Bergmusik, the Musikkapelle Ursensollen, and Saitenwind will perform. The spectrum ranges from hearty brass music to Kirwa and festival sounds.
