Sunday Serenades Amberg — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Amberg Sunday Serenades runs from May 17 to September 6. Every Sunday evening from 7 to 8 PM, a different ensemble performs in the Malteser Garden – weather permitting and with free admission.
Traditionally, the Knappschaftskapelle Amberg kicks off and concludes the event on Sunday, May 17. Throughout the summer, groups such as the Vogelhorn-Bergmusik, the Musikkapelle Ursensollen, and Saitenwind will perform. The spectrum ranges from hearty brass music to Kirwa and festival sounds.

Getting There
Amberg is accessible by train (Amberg station) and via the A6 and B85 motorways. The Malteser Garden is centrally located in the historic old town.

Admission is free. In case of rain, the serenades are cancelled.
Summer Serenades in the Upper Palatinate
The Amberg Sunday Serenades are a traditional open-air concert series by the City of Amberg in the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Palatinate. Throughout the summer, music groups from the region play every Sunday evening in the Malteser Garden – one of the most beautiful green spaces in Amberg's old town.
Diverse Programme
The musical offerings range from brass bands to Kirwabands. Participants include, among others, the Knappschaftskapelle Amberg, the Musikkapelle Ursensollen, the Vogelhorn-Bergmusik, and other ensembles from the region. Traditionally, the Knappschaftskapelle Amberg marks the opening and closing of the series.
Free Admission in the Malteser Garden
The concerts take place every Sunday from 7 to 8 PM – weather permitting. In case of rain, the serenades must unfortunately be cancelled. Admission is free, and the series is organised by the Cultural Office of the City of Amberg.
