"Am Anfang war das A" is a major local project in the truest sense of the word: book by Christian Eitner and Peter Schanz, both deeply rooted in Braunschweig's cultural and theater scene; music and performances by Jazzkantine, one of Braunschweig's most renowned bands; lead roles by Louie, Markus Schultze, and Maike Jacobs, also prominent figures in the local music scene. The play tells a fictional story from Braunschweig's early days – the "Stone Age" of the city's history, understood as the formative early phase of the medieval settlement.

The musical cast is a stroke of luck: Jazzkantine, the big band with over three decades of stage experience and hits like "Es geht voran" and "Hyphenated," brings its unmistakable sound to the stage. Singer-songwriter Louie contributes his warm voice and songwriting skills, Markus Schultze complements with his experience as a multi-instrumentalist and composer, and Maike Jacobs takes on a central leading role in the narrative.

The musical will be performed from June 18 to July 5, 2026, with a total of 21 shows. The venue is Lokpark Braunschweig, which, with its industrial backdrop and special acoustics, offers an almost ideal setting for a historical musical. The premiere on June 18 is eagerly awaited, and advance ticket sales have been strong for months.
