Alzeyt Open

Alzeyt Open is a modern city festival format that takes place in Alzey in June. The wordplay in the name – Alzey + Open – signals the concept: the city opens up, shops stay open longer, and public space becomes a stage.

Once a year at the end of June

Unlike recurring markets or wine festivals, Alzeyt Open is a one-day event. It takes place once a year at the end of June – in 2026, on Friday, June 19th. This places it in a period when the long summer evenings offer ideal conditions for an outdoor format.

Festival Zone: City Center

The city center becomes a festival zone: several squares, streets, and alleys are equipped with stages, activity areas, and meeting points. Live bands play in various locations, walking acts move through the city, artists present spontaneous performances, and shops open their doors, actively involving the streets in front of their storefronts.

Late-Night Shopping until 10 PM

A central element is the late-night shopping: the city center shops are open until 10 PM, presenting special promotions, tastings, or mini fashion shows, thus becoming active participants in the festival – not just backdrops.

Opening on Museumsplatz

The official opening takes place on Museumsplatz with Mayor Steffen Jung. This makes the city festival format an act of citizenship: politics, administration, retail, gastronomy, and culture stand shoulder to shoulder, showing that the 'Volkerstadt' is more than the sum of its functions.

Young Format with Potential

Alzeyt Open is one of Alzey's newer city festivals and consciously tries to appeal to new target groups. With its pop-up character, artistic accents, and unconventional setting, it offers an alternative to the classic Volksfest (people's festival) – and thus excellently complements the city's festival calendar.
