Four days, four summits – the hiking festival of the Ahr Valley on Corpus Christi weekend
The Ahrtaler Gipfelfest follows a simple logic: on each of the four festival days, a different hut on one of the valley's characteristic ridges is the focus. Hikers set off in the morning, reach the respective hut for a hearty lunch, and enjoy the afternoon with music, wine, and views. Those who conquer all four summits will have literally hiked a piece of Ahr Valley hiking geography.
The Forsterberg hut above Rech offers wide views of the Middle Ahr Valley. The Florianshütte in Ramersbach stands for a convivial family atmosphere. The Cäcilia-Hütte in Sinzig is known beyond regional club work for its wood-fired oven specialties. Finally, the Martinshütte in Schuld is located near the upper Ahr and is considered a quieter, nature-oriented meeting point.
Guided hikes to the huts are organized on all days by Ahrtal-Tourismus. They are free of charge and are suitable for solo guests as well as families. Registration is recommended as groups are limited. Several routes can be combined with the train stops of the Ahrtalbahn, making public transport particularly attractive.
The Gipfelfest represents the commitment of the hut associations and volunteers who rebuilt the valley's hiking infrastructure after the flood disaster in 2021. It is therefore not only a tourist event but also a sign of the region's connection to its mountains, forests, and huts.
The event combines selected hiking routes with hut music, regional dishes, and Ahr wines. It is suitable for day-trippers from the Rhineland and Eifel region as well as for multi-day guests spending the entire weekend in the Ahr Valley.
For the 20th edition, the organizers are honoring the long-standing work of the hut associations with additional program points.
The exact accompanying program for 2026 will be communicated by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
