Spring market in the park of the Baroque Castle Ahaus with 100 exhibitors
When spring reaches the western district of Borken, the park of the baroque moated castle Ahaus transforms into an elegant lifestyle market. For four days, around 100 exhibitors present the best in garden, living, and culinary delights against the historical backdrop. You stroll between the castle wings, through the castle park, and across the expansive Sümmermannplatz.
The offerings range from plants, perennials, and exotic varieties to garden furniture, sculptures, and outdoor accessories, as well as fashion, jewelry, textiles, and arts and crafts. Delicatessen manufacturers, wineries, and premium distillers round off the spectrum with culinary specials. The market targets a quality-conscious audience that appreciates the special mix of castle atmosphere and premium exhibitors.
A varied supporting program runs throughout the four days: Walking acts will spontaneously encounter you between the stands, and live music provides background ambiance at various performance stations. Workshops and showcase demonstrations offer insights into floristry, arts and crafts, and garden culture.
Built between 1690 and 1701 according to plans by Ambrosius von Oelde, Schloss Ahaus is one of the most important baroque castle complexes in Münsterland. After destruction in World War II, it was lovingly rebuilt. Today, it houses apartments, cultural institutions, and is the venue for events such as the Schlosszauber.
Unlike many boutique events, the Schlosszauber is deliberately designed to be family- and dog-friendly. Dogs on a leash are welcome, and children will find their own play areas, picnic spots, and ice cream vendors. Smoking is not permitted on the premises.
Ahaus is located directly on the Dutch border, about 60 km west of Münster, in the district of Borken. The town is known for its castle, the Tobit-Lab, and its close ties to neighboring Twente. The Schlosszauber attracts an international audience from Westphalia, the Rhineland, and the eastern Netherlands – the market counts around 10,000 visitors per year.
The 2026 edition once again focuses on the mix of a high-quality market, castle atmosphere, and cultural supporting program. Throughout the four days, walking acts alternate with live music, and show demonstrations, workshops, and floristry demonstrations take place in the orangery.
Organizer Thörmann Messen GmbH expects around 10,000 visitors from Münsterland, the Ruhr area, and the eastern Netherlands. Detailed opening hours will be published in spring 2026 on the organizer's channels.
