About Schützenfest Holzheim

The Bürger-Schützenverein Holzheim von 1836 e.V. (Citizens' Marksmen's Association) invites you to the annual Schützenfest in the Neuss district of Holzheim from July 4th to 7th, 2026. Four days of festivities with marksmen's parades, a procession, king's shooting, and a coronation evening. The Schützenfest is one of the most traditional in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district – the brotherhood will celebrate its 190th anniversary in the coming years. BSV Holzheim since 1836

The Bürger-Schützenverein Holzheim von 1836 e.V.BSV Holzheim for short – is one of the oldest marksmen's brotherhoods in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district. Founded in 1836, it is approaching its 200th anniversary. The venue for the Schützenfest is the district of Holzheim in the northwest of Neuss – a district with a distinctly rural character and a strong sense of community life.

Date 2026: July 4th–7th

The 2026 event runs from Saturday, July 4th to Tuesday, July 7th, 2026. Four days of festivities with a classic Rhenish marksmen's program.

Double Marksmen's Year in Holzheim

In 2026, Holzheim is the venue for two major marksmen's events:

  • July 2026: the traditional annual Schützenfest of the BSV Holzheim (early July)
  • September 2026: the 68th Rhenish Marksmen's Day in Neuss-Holzheim (September 25th–27th) – the major association festival of the Rhenish Marksmen's Federation, with the BSV Holzheim as the local organizing club

Both events are independent – anyone wishing to experience marksmen's traditions in Holzheim has two opportunities in 2026.

Festival Schedule Annual Schützenfest

The annual festival follows the Lower Rhenish marksmen's standard:

  • Saturday, July 4th: Festival opening, King's evening in the tent
  • Sunday, July 5th: Festival service, grand procession through Holzheim, concert in the festival tent
  • Monday, July 6th: Family day, fairground day, civic ball
  • Tuesday, July 7th: King's shooting, coronation ball in the evening

Festival Grounds and Tent

The festival tent will be set up on the Holzheim festival grounds. Adjacent to it, a funfair with carousels, food, and drink stalls. The festival grounds are centrally located in the district – locals can walk there, while visitors from Neuss and the surrounding area can come by bus and car.

Connection to the Rhenish Marksmen's Federation

The BSV Holzheim is a member of the Rheinischer Schützenbund (RSB), one of the largest sports shooting federations in Europe. Being chosen as the host for the 2026 Rhenish Marksmen's Day is an honor – only a few brotherhoods receive this distinction. The patronage for the Marksmen's Day has been taken over by the President of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament, André Kuper.

Holzheim – District in Northwest Neuss

Holzheim is located in the northwest of Neuss, on the border with Korschenbroich. With around 9,000 inhabitants, it is a medium-sized suburb that has retained its village identity despite its proximity to the city. Community life, preservation of traditions, and neighborhood structures are particularly strong in Holzheim.
