About Afrika Karibik Festival

The Afrika Karibik Kultur Festival transforms the Starnberg lake promenade into a meeting point for international sounds and cultures every spring. For four days, Afrobeats, Reggae, Soukous, and Worldmusic can be heard directly on the shores of Lake Starnberg, accompanied by drum groups, dance performances, a fashion show, and a colorful handicraft market. International street food stalls and a relaxed open-air atmosphere make the festival, with free admission, one of the most popular summer kick-offs in the district of Starnberg.

A Celebration of Cultures on Lake Starnberg

The Afrika Karibik Kultur Festival is one of the most atmospheric open-air events in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg. A festival area is created over four days on the lake promenade between MRSV and Undosa, focusing on African, Caribbean, and international joie de vivre. The location directly on the shores of Lake Starnberg gives the festival its special charm.

Music and Stage Program

Live acts and DJs alternate on stage. The musical spectrum ranges from Afrobeats and Afro Fusion to Reggae, Soukous, and Percussion and Worldmusic. Traditional drum groups and a gospel choir complement the program, as do dance performances and a fashion show presenting African and Caribbean fabrics and designs.

More Than Just Concerts

In addition to music, the festival offers a diverse supporting program: a handicraft bazaar with henna painting and hair braiding, cultural workshops, and numerous food stalls with international cuisine. There are also special activities for children, making the festival suitable for the whole family.

Free Admission and Atmosphere

Admission is free, making the festival a crowd-puller in Bavaria every year. The relaxed atmosphere by the lake, combined with international sounds and scents, attracts visitors from the entire region around Munich. It is open daily from 11 am to 10 pm.

Tradition in Starnberg

Organized by the association KCC Germany, the festival has become firmly established in the event calendar of the city of Starnberg over the years and sees itself as a meeting place for people of different backgrounds in the heart of the Fünfseenland.
