Day of experiences in Hummetalpark with open-air church service, spring concert, music theatre, and nature stations
The Aerzen Park-Experience is part of a broader concept with which the municipality of Aerzen aims to make the rural lifestyle in the Hummetal tangible. The motto 'Aerzen is Countryside Charm' consciously picks up on the appreciative view of rural culture that has gained traction in the media in recent years. Hummetalpark in the heart of Aerzen becomes the stage where community life, faith, music, nature experience, and children's fun come together.
Precisely at 11 AM, the day begins with an open-air church service. The local church communities jointly design the liturgy, accompanied by brass choirs or ensembles. The open-air service is open to everyone, regardless of denomination or faith orientation. Afterwards, a spring concert will play classical and folk pieces to welcome the warmer season.
A musical play, specially produced for the Park-Experience, adapts the popular children's fairy tale 'The Three Little Pigs'. With costumes, live music, stage design, and child-friendly storytelling, the tale of the straw house, wooden house, and brick house is staged for the youngest visitors. Several performances spread throughout the afternoon ensure that all families can see the play.
Straw bale arenas are set up for children, where they can climb, roll, and play. Agricultural machinery — tractors, trailers, small equipment — are available for viewing and, under supervision, for climbing. Several nature stations playfully impart knowledge about local flora and fauna: identification games for wild herbs, bird songs, insect life, and aquatic animals. Craft areas allow for felting, crafting with natural materials, or decorating Easter eggs (if seasonally appropriate).
Regional providers, associations, and local restaurateurs cater to the visitors. Bratwurst, potato pancakes, fries, wood-fired bread, homemade cakes, coffee, non-alcoholic spring drinks, and draft beer are on the menu. The stands are spread throughout the park; benches and tables invite visitors to linger.
Hummetalpark is centrally located in Aerzen and serves as a meeting point for many community events. The Park-Experience builds on this tradition and strengthens the sense of community. Families from the municipality, its districts, and surrounding communities are equally invited.
The exact daily program will be published by the municipality of Aerzen in spring 2026. The structure follows the key points of previous years: church service, spring concert, music theatre, nature stations, and family activities.
