About Adventstreff Schloss Salder

The Adventstreff Schloss Salder is one of the most beautiful Advent markets in the northern Harz foreland. On the third Advent weekend of 2026, the Municipal Museum Schloss Salder will open its courtyard, timber-framed barn, and selected halls for a curated market with arts and crafts, courtyard concerts, and an atmospheric light forest. Exhibitors are expected with ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, and culinary specialties from the region. Mulled wine, roasted almonds, and hot soups will warm visitors, while brass ensembles and choirs perform in the castle courtyard and small performances bring the courtyard to life. For children, there are craft activities, storytelling sessions, and a visit from St. Nicholas. Free admission. Organized by the Museum Schloss Salder with the support of the City of Salzgitter and local associations.

Advent Atmosphere in the Renaissance Castle

Schloss Salder is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in the northern Harz foreland and houses the Salzgitter Municipal Museum. On the third Advent weekend of 2026 – Saturday, December 12th, and Sunday, December 13th – the courtyard, timber-framed barn, and historic halls will transform into a winter market, highly valued far beyond the city limits.

Light Forest and Courtyard Gastronomy

The hallmark of the Adventstreff is the light forest in the outdoor area: hundreds of lights, embedded in fir trees and moss branches, create an almost magical atmosphere. In the castle courtyard, fire pits, mulled wine, Feuerzangenbowle (mulled wine with rum), roasted almonds, hot soups, bratwurst, and crêpes ensure culinary delights. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.

Hand-picked Exhibitors

The Adventstreff focuses on quality over quantity. In stalls in the courtyard and in the castle's rooms, around 30 to 40 exhibitors from Salzgitter, the Harz region, and the Braunschweig region will present their work: ceramics, jewelry, glass art, wood carvings, textiles, felt, nativity scenes, Christmas cards, and book art. In addition, honey, jams, liqueurs, stollen, and pralines from the region.

Stage and Children's Program

A varied stage program will take place in the courtyard: school and church choirs, brass ensembles, trombone choirs, amateur theater groups. For children, there are craft activities, storytelling sessions in the castle rooms, and – of course – a visit from St. Nicholas or Santa Claus.
