Traditional Christmas market around St. Nicholas Church on the Eiermarkt
The Eiermarkt is one of the most beautiful squares in Bad Kreuznach's old town. It is dominated by the Nikolauskirche (St. Nicholas Church), the traditional inner-city church, whose patron, Saint Nicholas, gives the market its name. The historic buildings with burgher houses and half-timbering create a backdrop that is perfect for a classic German Christmas market.
Numerous stalls are present at the market. Regional craftspeople offer gifts and decorations, from ceramics and woodwork to textiles. The culinary offerings include mulled wine, punch, roasted almonds, gingerbread, bratwurst, potato pancakes (Reibekuchen), and sweet specialties. The catering stalls are partly run by local associations, with proceeds benefiting their activities.
A large nativity scene is one of the central decorative elements of the market. It is lovingly assembled year after year and serves as a meeting point for families. The children's program includes a carousel, craft and reading activities, and regular visits from St. Nicholas.
The Advent market is a meeting place for the people of Bad Kreuznach and visitors from the surrounding area. People meet after work for a glass of mulled wine, and on weekends, families stroll between the stalls. The combination of the historic old town setting, festive lighting, and musical accompaniment creates the typical Advent atmosphere.
The 2026 season continues the long tradition of the Bad Kreuznach Advent market. For over a month, the Eiermarkt provides the festive backdrop for mulled wine, gifts, and encounters. The exact opening hours and detailed program will be published by the city in the autumn.
