Christmas Market in the Spessart

The Adventsmarkt Heigenbrücken takes place annually on the first weekend of Advent and is one of the traditional smaller Christmas markets in the Bavarian Spessart. The organizers are the Municipality of Heigenbrücken and the local Vereinsring (association ring). The location is the bus parking lot on Hüttenwiesenweg in the town center, within walking distance of the town hall and train station.

Character and Program

On both market days, association, gastronomy, and arts and crafts stalls are spread around the square: mulled wine, bratwurst, homemade cookies, and Christmas decorations from regional production. Local choirs, brass ensembles, and music clubs take turns on a stage; the children's program traditionally includes a visit from St. Nicholas.

Heigenbrücken and the Aschaffenburg District

Heigenbrücken is located in the Aschaffenburg district in the Bavarian Spessart, about 30 km east of Aschaffenburg and about an hour's drive from Frankfurt am Main. The municipality is accessible via the A3 motorway (Rohrbrunn exit) and by train (Aschaffenburg–Würzburg line) – Heigenbrücken station is just a few minutes' walk from the festival grounds.
