Over 70 craftspeople in the Stadtpark and the sheltered courtyard of the Kulturwerk
The Stadtpark Norderstedt — one of the largest park areas in the Hamburg metropolitan region — is a green oasis in summer and an atmospheric Christmas market location in Advent. The annual Advents-Markt uses two areas: the sheltered courtyard of the Kulturwerk (the event and culture center directly by the park) as a weather-protected core with the highest quality stalls, and the surrounding paths through the Stadtpark as an extended market area. The result is a market that is larger and more atmospheric than most city center markets in the vicinity.
The exhibitor profile is consistently curated: Over 70 stalls with high-quality crafts, jewelry, and accessories — mass-produced goods are excluded. Represented are:
The selection of exhibitors is made through an application process — applicants must submit workshop proof and product samples.
The Norderstedter Musikverein and the Musikschule Norderstedt provide the musical accompaniment — Advent music ranging from recorder ensembles to brass groups and choirs. The performances are spread across the three festive days and add a tangible Advent atmosphere to the market experience.
For children, there is a classic carousel at the market — a simple but central attraction for many children. Culinary offerings include the full Advent palette: mulled wine, children's punch, candied almonds, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, and lard pastries. In the Kulturwerk itself, there are also café seating options for a longer break.
With around 80,000 inhabitants, Norderstedt is the fifth-largest city in Schleswig-Holstein — directly bordering Hamburg to the north, with subway connections and close ties to the Hanseatic city. The Stadtpark Norderstedt and the adjacent Kulturwerk are the city's most important cultural and recreational centers. The Advents-Markt attracts visitors from Hamburg-Nord, Norderstedt itself, and southern Schleswig-Holstein every year.
The Advents-Markt in Norderstedt's Stadtpark 2026 runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening on the 1st Advent. The over 70 curated stalls are spread across the weather-protected Kulturwerk courtyard and the paths through the Stadtpark. The event is organized by the City of Norderstedt together with the Stadtpark Norderstedt.
