Worms-Abenheim as a Wine Village

Worms-Abenheim is one of the Worms districts with a distinct viticultural tradition. The surrounding slopes – gently rolling hills with loess soils and a good microclimate – have been home to Riesling, Silvaner, Spätburgunder, and Grauburgunder for centuries. Klosterhof Lösch (with a long monastic tradition) and St. Michaels-Hof are among the most traditional Abenheim wineries and are established players in Worms' wine scene (MarktWinzer, Weinmeile, Weinmesse).

Four Hikes in September

The Abenheim Wine Hike spans four consecutive Saturdays: September 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, 2026. This format becomes a regular meeting point – regular hikers can come multiple times, and new guests have several opportunities to participate. Guided hikes with small group constellations start at 11:00 AM each day.

Grape and Wine Tasting in the Vineyards

The first part of the program is the tasting directly in the vineyards: The vintners explain the ripeness of the grapes on specific vines, let the hikers taste (a special experience – sun-warmed, ripening grapes are a taste sensation), and pour the first wines of the current vintage. A simultaneous learning and enjoyment experience that makes the connection between vine, soil, climate, and wine tangible.

Lunch in the Vineyard

A rustic lunch is offered in the middle of the vineyards: bread, sausage, cheese, salads, regional specialties. In the background, the world of vineyards in autumn light, the warm September sun, and the wide view over the Rheinhessen landscape. An enjoyment experience that is hard to surpass.

Harvest Festival at the Winery

The hike concludes at the winery with a harvest festival (Erntfest) – dinner, wine, music, and dancing. Here, the hike transitions into conviviality, new acquaintances are made, and old friendships are maintained. A perfect combination of sport, education, enjoyment, and sociability.
