About Abendmarkt Cannstatt
Abendmarkt Cannstatt — edition 2026
2026 Edition — Ten Summer Fridays
The 2026 Abendmarkt starts after Pentecost (June 16, 2026) on the first Friday, June 19, 2026, on the Bad Cannstatt market square. A total of ten Friday dates are planned until August, each from 5 to 10 PM. You'll find a mix of regional wines from Cannstatter Zuckerle, street food trucks with various cuisines, cocktails, and a relaxed stage program of acoustic music, jazz, and Latin.
The organizer is the district association Die Altstadt Bad Cannstatt e.V., which launched the market in 2024 and has continued it every year since. The concept deliberately focuses on a relaxed summer atmosphere rather than a Volksfest spectacle — the program is family-friendly but also suitable for after-work gatherings.

Abendmarkt Bad Cannstatt — Summer Fridays in the Old Town
As the days get longer and Stuttgart residents seek out their favourite spots, Bad Cannstatt's market square opens its Abendmarkt every Friday evening. Organized by the district association Die Altstadt Bad Cannstatt e.V., this series has become a firm fixture in the summer calendar for many Cannstatt and Stuttgart locals — especially for those who value a relaxed atmosphere, local exhibitors, and short distances.
Bad Cannstatt Market Square — The Setting
Cannstatt's market square is located in the heart of the historic old town — surrounded by the town church, the Klösterle (one of Stuttgart's oldest half-timbered houses), and the converted burgher houses. When the stage is set up at the edge of the square and tables are spread out under the open sky between the stalls, an almost Mediterranean atmosphere is created. This is precisely what the organizers aimed for in their concept: a blend of southern market flair and Swabian hospitality.
What You'll Experience at the Abendmarkt
You'll find stalls offering regional wines from the Stuttgart city area (Cannstatt is located directly on the Neckar with its own vineyards on Cannstatter Zuckerle and Mönchberg), street food with various cuisines — from Swabian to Italian to Levantine — freshly tapped beer from local breweries, cocktails, and non-alcoholic specialties. Plus, a stage program with live music: mostly acoustic acts, jazz, singer-songwriters, or Latin — relaxed, fitting for a summer evening, not too loud.
Die Altstadt Bad Cannstatt e.V. — The Association Behind the Market
The Abendmarkt is one of several summer projects by the Cannstatt Old Town Association. The association is committed to revitalizing the city centre beyond the 'Wasen' madness of the Cannstatt Volksfest and strives to liven up the old town with events throughout the year — Music & Wine in spring, the new Erbsenbrunnen-Lättle-Fest in June, the Abendmarkt in summer, and the 'Sternstunden' (starry hours) during Advent are part of the series. By visiting, you support not only the exhibitors but also this civic engagement.
Bad Cannstatt — The Heart of Stuttgart
With over 70,000 inhabitants, Bad Cannstatt is Stuttgart's largest and oldest district — older than the state capital itself. The mineral springs, the Wilhelma zoo and botanical garden, the town church, the Kursaal, and the 'Wasen' fairgrounds shape its image. At the Abendmarkt, you can get to know the district from its authentic side — far from the tourist trails of Schlossplatz. Afterwards, a walk along the Neckar or a nightcap in one of Cannstatt's many wine taverns is recommended.
