777 Years Zorge – Anniversary Festival

777 Years of Municipal History

The municipality of Zorge, located in the south of the Göttingen district, was first mentioned in a document in 1249 and is celebrating its 777th birthday in 2026. The Anniversary Festival 777 Years Zorge is the highlight of a multi-month anniversary year featuring special events, exhibitions, and contributions to local history. The festival weekend will take place at the Zorge Schützenhaus and the area around the historic Hammerschmiede, a significant industrial monument in the southern Harz region.

Festive Opening on Friday

The festival begins on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Zorge Schützenhaus. Following official welcomes by the mayor, representatives of clubs, and municipal officials, a live concert by the band Blue Brids will musically open the festive evening. The anniversary will thus be celebrated with a social gathering and a packed program of live music.

Grand Parade on Saturday

Saturday is dedicated to the grand parade through Zorge. Local clubs, brass bands, historical floats, and citizen groups will march through the main streets in a parade lasting several hours. Afterwards, a colorful stage program will take place at the Hammerschmiede – with live bands, club performances, and extensive catering. The Hammerschmiede itself will open its doors for visits, with guided tours explaining the industrial and social history of the town.

Festival Service and Closing on Sunday

Sunday, May 24, 2026, begins with an open-air church service. Afterwards, a cozy get-together will follow at the Hammerschmiede with music, food, and socializing. The program concludes in the late afternoon with the official farewell.
