60th anniversary of the sports club with an open-air festival in Upper Franconia
The sports club Motschenbach was founded in 1966 and is one of the classic village sports clubs in Upper Franconia. The focus is on football, supplemented by other departments. The club bundles the sporting and social life of the Motschenbach district and is deeply rooted in the community of Mainleus.
The 60th anniversary will be celebrated with an open-air festival weekend. Two festival evenings — Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14 — with admission starting at 6 p.m. each day and ending at 1 a.m. the next morning. Live bands, catering, sports, and games will shape the program. The sports grounds at Motschenbach 73 will be converted into a festival mile.
Motschenbach is one of the districts of the market town Mainleus in the Kulmbach district (Upper Franconia). Mainleus has about 5,500 inhabitants and is located at the transition between the Upper Franconian Main Valley and the Franconian Forest. The region is known for its dense club structure — almost every district has its own sports club, its own brass band, its own fire department. Club anniversaries with open-air festivals are particularly important here.
Open-air club festivals with live music late into the night are a hallmark of Upper Franconian club culture. Unlike traditional marquee Volksfeste (popular festivals), the open-air format with a stage under the open sky offers a more modern, younger atmosphere — live bands from the regional rock and cover scene typically shape the program.
The 60th anniversary of SV Motschenbach (founded in 1966) is being celebrated with a two-day open-air festival weekend on June 13 and 14, 2026. The festival grounds around the sports facility at Motschenbach 73 will be converted into a festival mile with a stage, catering stands, and a sports program.
Both festival evenings begin with admission from 6:00 p.m. and end at 1:00 a.m. The program includes live bands from the Upper Franconian cover and party band scene, as well as catering by club members.
By car via the A 70 (Kulmbach-Süd exit) or the B 289 from Kulmbach (15 km). Parking available at the sports grounds and in the Motschenbach district. By train to Mainleus (Bayreuth-Kulmbach line), then a walk of about 10 minutes.
Admission from 6:00 p.m. Admission fee varies by festival evening. Catering provided by the club. Event ends at 1:00 a.m.
