Half a Century of IG Model Ship Building

Over five decades, the IG Model Ship Pirmasens has developed into one of the most important model building clubs in southern Germany. The 50th anniversary in 2026 will be celebrated with an international exhibition showcasing the full breadth of the club's interests — from model ships to RC trucks and crawler courses. The Wasgauhalle at the exhibition grounds provides ample space for an event of this magnitude.

580 Models in Various Scales

The heart of the exhibition consists of 580 models. This extraordinary number reflects the significance of the Pirmasens IG in the international model building scene. Both static models, crafted with the finest detail, and functional RC ships, demonstrating their capabilities on a basin, will be on display. The scales vary — from precise miniatures to impressive large-scale models.

RC Truck Course and Crawler Course

Beyond the model ships, the IG presents an RC truck course and a crawler course. This expansion highlights the diversity of the modern RC model building world, where truck models are built with spectacular attention to detail and crawlers are navigated over obstacles on challenging courses. Both areas have gained significant popularity in recent years.

35 Years of Partnership with AMF Poissy

Concurrently with the club's anniversary, the 35-year partnership with the French model building club AMF Poissy is being celebrated. This partnership embodies a club culture that transcends borders and brings German-French friendship to life through a shared hobby. A delegation from Poissy is expected at the anniversary exhibition.
