City festival at the Old Harbour for the 50th anniversary of city marketing
The VVV Stadt- und Citymarketing Nordhorn e.V. was founded in 1976 and looks back on five decades in which it has actively shaped Nordhorn's inner-city revitalization, event profile, and city marketing concept. With over 200 members from trade, gastronomy, and city society, it is one of the most influential associations in the Grafschaft Bentheim and has significantly developed numerous city festivals — including Holschenmarkt, Maikirmes, Wasserstadt Wochenende, Nordhorner Oktober, and the Internationales Straßenkulturfest.
The Old Harbour at the market square is one of the most characteristic waterfronts in the city center and thus conceptually fits the association, which has significantly shaped the image of the water city of Nordhorn. For the anniversary weekend, an event on the water is planned, utilizing the central location as a stage.
An after-work evening with a live program and gastronomy is intended to transition the anniversary mood into a relaxed weekend kickoff. The city center members of the VVV will be integrated into the program and use the festival to present their offerings.
The exact detailed program will be published by VVV Nordhorn in the summer of 2026. It is already clear: The weekend is designed as a mix of water spectacle, live music, after-work atmosphere, and family activities. Admission is free.
With the anniversary weekend, the VVV positions itself not only as an organizer but also as a central player in Nordhorn's city marketing. Sponsorship, partnerships, and close integration with trade and gastronomy are the basis of decades of work that are made visible here.
The program for the anniversary is in the detailed planning stage. The framework is already set: water spectacle at the Old Harbour, after-work atmosphere, live music, and family activities. The VVV uses the weekend to celebrate its 50th anniversary with members, partners, and guests.
For five decades, the VVV has been a central player in inner-city revitalization. The anniversary weekend makes this role visible and provides a fitting kickoff for the association's further activities in its anniversary year.
The exact detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years' similar city festivals:
