National athletics competition on Pentecost with a long tradition and athletes from all over Germany
The Pentecost Athletics Meet Zeven was first held in 1982 and will look back on 45 years of competition history in 2026. What began as a regional event has developed over the decades into a national athletics competition that attracts athletes from all over Germany. The continuity and quality of the organization have made the competition a fixture in the German Pentecost sports calendar.
The sporting program includes the classic athletics disciplines: sprint distances (100m, 200m, 400m), hurdles, middle-distance (800m, 1500m), long-distance (3000m, 5000m), relays, high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and hammer throw. Men's, women's, youth, and junior classes will compete.
The national field of competitors includes athletes from Bundesliga clubs, top sports associations, and regional elite teams. Young talents also use the Pentecost Athletics Meet as an important benchmark in the early summer competition season.
The Pentecost weekend is traditionally a sporting weekend in Zeven. The Pentecost Athletics Meet attracts hundreds of athletes, coaches, families, and spectators to the town. Hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants benefit from the weekend rush. The town of Zeven supports the event organizationally and financially.
The Pentecost Athletics Meet stands for sporting tradition, volunteer commitment, and continuous quality. Many helpers have been contributing to the success of the event for decades. The region's club landscape—from Zeven's sports clubs to the athletics clubs of the Samtgemeinde—is closely linked to the competition.
From the morning opening to the evening award ceremony, everything on May 23 revolves around athletics. Several disciplines will run concurrently at the sports facilities.
With athletes from all over Germany, the Pentecost Athletics Meet is more than a regional event—it's a meeting point for German athletics in early summer.
The exact schedule with the order of disciplines will be published by the organizing committee closer to the date. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
