The Königshardt Interest Group
The organiser is the Königshardt Interest Group (KIG) — a community-driven association that preserves the district's identity. For the anniversary, several working groups are collaborating: infrastructure, programme, catering, sponsoring, and the parade. A 250-year anniversary T-shirt (€20) helps finance the festival; sponsorship memberships starting at €60 include a commemorative pin.
Königshardt — The Oberhausen District
Königshardt is one of Oberhausen's northern districts — historically shaped by its mining tradition (Zeche Osterfeld) and the iron and steel industry. With approximately 8,000 inhabitants, it is a compact district with a distinct identity. The KIG's activities — from district festivals to anniversary programmes — serve as a model for community-driven district work in the Ruhr area.
