150 Years of the Wiesent Brigade

The Volunteer Fire Brigade Wiesent was founded in 1876 and is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026. The venue for the founding festival is the large festival tent at the Wiesent festival grounds – on the community's football pitch. The FFW Wiesent is the organizer, supported by patron associations and the entire Upper Palatinate fire brigade family.

Four-Day Festival Weekend

The anniversary festival runs from Friday, June 12th to Monday, June 15th, 2026. The festival tent setup begins as early as Saturday, June 6th, 2026, with the voluntary help of association members; dismantling takes place on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026.

Program Highlights – The Festival Sunday

Festival Sunday, June 14th, 2026, is the central day of the celebration:

• 9:30 AM – Church procession from the fire station to the parish church
• 10:00 AM – Festive church service
• 2:30 PM – Grand parade with over 55 associations and music bands from the festival grounds through the community
• Evening – Festival tent program with the band Vorwaidler

Patron Associations and Festival Maids

As is customary in Upper Palatinate fire brigade tradition, a patron association takes on the patronage. The festival maids – young women from the community – accompany the festival in traditional costume and represent the Wiesent brigade. A dedicated Instagram account documents the preparations (@festdamen.ff.wiesent).

Cake Donations from the Village Community

As is also customary at other FFW founding festivals in Bavaria, the Wiesent brigade is calling for cake donations in the run-up to the event. Cakes can be dropped off on Saturday, June 13th, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, or on Sunday, June 14th, from 7:00 AM at the coffee tent. Coordination via Gerlinde Striegl (Tel. 09482/3069).

Wiesent in the Vorwald

Wiesent is a community of around 3,300 inhabitants in the Regensburg district (Upper Palatinate, Bavaria), located on the eastern edge of the Danube and at the transition to the Bavarian Vorwald. The brigade is one of the oldest in the district and is closely associated with the Regensburg District Fire Brigade Association – the KFV Regensburg also lists the 2026 founding festival in its anniversary calendar.
