100 Years Music Association Brunken
The Music Association Brunken was founded in 1926 in the small district of Brunken, part of the municipality of Selbach (Sieg), and celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026. For over a century, the association has nurtured the musical tradition of the Wisserland and has developed into one of the most important brass bands in the north of the Altenkirchen district. The award of the Pro Musica Plaque of the Federal Republic — the highest German award for music associations — recognizes the association's extraordinary services to the preservation of folk and brass music.
Four Days of Anniversary Program
The anniversary festival spans four days from Friday, May 22nd, to Monday, May 25th, 2026, coinciding with the Pentecost weekend. In the festival tent on Hachenburger Straße in Selbach-Brunken, the program offers a wide spectrum of music and festival culture.
Friday 22.05. — 'Back to Brunken' Show Evening
The opening on Friday evening is titled 'Back to Brunken' and is designed as a show evening. Performances by the choir 'Haste Töne' and the dance formation 'Tanztraum Balé' bring dance and song to the stage. The evening is conceived as an emotional look back at the association's history.
Saturday 23.05. — 'Playa de Brunken' with Isi Glück
Saturday is themed 'Playa de Brunken' and transforms the festival tent into a Mallorca party atmosphere. The band Firlefanz opens the evening, followed by Breitner from the notorious Bierkönig on Mallorca. The highlight is the performance by Schlager star Isi Glück — Miss Germany 2012 and now a fixture of the Ballermann scene. The Ballermann anthem 'Layla' and other Schlager hits ensure a lively atmosphere.
Sunday 24.05. — '#BUMUHA2026' Outdoor Concert
Sunday morning and afternoon are dedicated to the musical highlight: the '#BUMUHA2026' outdoor concert (BUMUHA stands for 'Bundesmusikertreffen Hamm' or similar) at the bus turnaround in Selbach. 14 brass bands from the region and beyond perform together — the finale with hundreds of musicians playing together creates a unique soundscape, only possible at such anniversary occasions.
Sunday Evening — 'Woodstock in Brunken'
Sunday evening features 'Woodstock in Brunken' with Tegernseer Tanzlmusi (Bavarian folk music), South Brass (modern brass band), and Blaskapelle Gehörsturz — a cabaret-musical formation with a wink.
Monday 25.05. — 'Brunken and Friends' Frühschoppen
The festival concludes on Whit Monday with the 'Brunken and Friends' Frühschoppen — a convivial closing with friendly music associations, a shared breakfast, and final musical contributions.

Friday 22.05. — Back to Brunken
Show evening in the festival tent with the choir Haste Töne, presenting vocal contributions to the association's history, and the dance formation Tanztraum Balé with choreographies. An emotional look back at 100 years of the association's history with multimedia contributions and honors for long-serving members.
Saturday 23.05. — Playa de Brunken
Mallorca party in the festival tent. Opening with the band Firlefanz, known for their rousing cover hits. Followed by a performance by Breitner from Bierkönig Mallorca — a regular guest of the Ballermann scene. The highlight is the performance by Schlager star Isi Glück, who transforms the festival tent into a mega-party with her hits like 'Layla' and other Ballermann classics.
Sunday 24.05. daytime — #BUMUHA2026
Outdoor concert at the bus turnaround in Selbach with 14 brass bands from the region. The individual bands perform one after another, and in the finale, they all play together — hundreds of musicians create a unique soundscape, only experienceable at such anniversary occasions. Open-air atmosphere with catering and communal singing.
Sunday 24.05. evening — Woodstock in Brunken
Festival tent evening with three acts: Tegernseer Tanzlmusi brings Bavarian folk music to the Wisserland. South Brass follows with modern brass band music. The finale is by Blaskapelle Gehörsturz — a cabaret-musical formation that impresses with a wink and musical quality.
Monday 25.05. — Brunken and Friends
Frühschoppen to conclude the festival with friendly music associations, a shared breakfast, and final musical contributions. Farewell to the festival guests in the late afternoon.
