A Century of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Wellersen
The Volunteer Fire Brigade Wellersen was founded in 1926 and has since been an indispensable pillar of fire protection and technical assistance in the district. From its humble beginnings with hand pumps and volunteer-organised fire brigades, it has become a modern, efficient brigade over a century, ensuring the safety of citizens around the clock.
Three Days of Celebration in the Festival Tent
The 100th anniversary will be celebrated from June 5th to 7th, 2026, with a festival tent in the Wellersen district. The festival begins on Friday evening with a ceremonial act and an official tribute to the brigade's history. Saturday will focus on a convivial evening with live music, attended by guests from neighbouring towns and friendly brigades. Sunday will be characterised by sports and fire brigade activities.
Sectional Competition of the Northern Readiness Unit
The highlight of the festival Sunday is the sectional competition of the Northern Readiness Unit. Volunteer fire brigades from the region will compete in a traditional performance comparison, measuring fire brigade technical skill, speed, precision, and team spirit. The competition is exciting for spectators and provides insight into the skills of the volunteer helpers.
Community and Gratitude
The anniversary festival is more than just an occasion to celebrate – it is an expression of gratitude from the village community to the volunteers who have been ensuring the safety of their fellow citizens free of charge for 100 years. Active brigade members, honorary members, representatives of the town of Dassel, the district of Northeim, and friendly brigades will be celebrated together.
