The Neighborhood Festival of Berlin's Southeast
When the chestnuts start falling in September and the residents of Adlershof settle back into their daily routines after the summer holidays, the annual neighborhood festival in Adlershof (Treptow-Köpenick district) begins. The Adlershofer Herbstfest has been organized for over 25 years by the Adlershofer Festkomitee and the Heimatverein Köpenick e.V., under the patronage of District Mayor Oliver Igel.
What to Expect
The heart of the action is the Kulturzentrum Alte Schule at Dörpfeldstraße 54-56. The courtyard and the interior of the cultural center provide a safe and welcoming festival space:
- Stage Program: Live music from local bands (2026: Ella19, Fairschärft, Pack of Bones, Gospelchor Adlershof), children's dance groups, and puppet theater
- Children's Festival with fantastic creative hands-on activities
- Kiezklub Alte Schule: Creative workshops (crafting, felting, encaustic painting) and a cafeteria
- Charity Flea Market: Books, games, toys, and hidden treasures — proceeds support non-profit projects
- Street Food and Drinks: Waffles, soups, bratwurst, coffee, and cake
- Information Booths: NABU, relief organizations, local neighborhood council, local history, and science
Adlershof — Science and Local Culture
Today, the Adlershof district is one of Berlin's most important hubs for science and business, thanks to the Adlershof Technology Park (WISTA). At the same time, the neighborhood around Dörpfeldstraße and the Verklärungskirche remains a traditional residential area with a strong sense of identity. The autumn festival bridges these two worlds: scientists from the technology park come together to celebrate with local families and residents from the surrounding streets.
