Start of the Fasching Season in Hof
In Hof an der Saale, the Fasching season traditionally begins on the first weekend of the new year with the solemn enthronement of the princely couple. The organizer is the 1st Hof Carnival Society Narhalla — the oldest and largest carnival society in the city. The enthronement is one of the most important social events of the year and regularly fills the festival hall of the Freiheitshalle Hof.
Princely Couple 2026: Claudia I and Frank II
For the 2026 Fasching season, Prince Frank II and Princess Claudia I reign. They represent the Narhalla at all events of the season — from prince's balls and children's sessions to the Rosenmontag parade.
Handover of the City Keys
The centerpiece of the ceremony is the symbolic handover of the city keys and the city treasury: Mayor Eva Döhla hands over the insignia to the princely couple — the Narhalla rules the city of Hof until Ash Wednesday. This satirical takeover of power is a classic element of both Rhenish and Franconian carnival.
Brezenorden
As part of the enthronement, the Brezenorden is also awarded — the highest honor of the Hof Narhalla. It goes to personalities who have rendered outstanding services to Hof Fasching.
Hof — Fasching Capital in Upper Franconia
After Würzburg, Hof an der Saale is the second most important Fasching stronghold in Bavaria north of the Danube. With several carnival societies, prince's balls, children's sessions, and a large Rosenmontag parade, the city cultivates a distinct Franconian-Thuringian Fasching tradition. The Narhalla, with its Elferrat, dance troupe, and princely couple, is the central bearer of this culture.
Season Highlights
Following the enthronement, several prince's balls, children's sessions, and champagne receptions will take place over the following weeks, culminating in the Rosenmontag parade on February 16, 2026, through Hof's city center. The enthronement is the first public highlight of a Fasching season lasting around six weeks.
Narhalla-Inthronisation Hof — edición 2026
El domingo, 4 de enero de 2026, a partir de las 14:00 h, la 1ª Sociedad de Carnaval de Hof Narhalla inaugurará la temporada de Fasching 2026 en el salón de actos de la Freiheitshalle. Con la entrada de la pareja principesca, el Elferrat y la guardia de baile, comenzará la ceremonia.
El punto culminante será la entrega simbólica de las llaves de la ciudad y la tesorería municipal por parte de la alcaldesa Eva Döhla al Príncipe Frank II y la Princesa Claudia I. A partir de entonces, la Narhalla ostentará el poder simbólico sobre la ciudad de Hof durante las próximas semanas, hasta el Miércoles de Ceniza, el 18 de febrero de 2026.
Posteriormente, se otorgará el tradicional Brezenorden de la Narhalla a personalidades que hayan prestado servicios especiales al Fasching de Hof.

Programa — Domingo, 4 de enero de 2026
- 14:00 h — Entrada de la pareja principesca, el Elferrat y las guardias de baile al salón de actos
- Bienvenida por parte del presidente de la 1ª Narhalla de Hof
- Actuación de los grupos de baile de la guardia
- Entrega de las llaves de la ciudad y la tesorería municipal por parte de la alcaldesa Eva Döhla al Príncipe Frank II y la Princesa Claudia I.
- Discurso de entronización de la pareja principesca
- Entrega del Brezenorden a personalidades meritorias del Fasching de Hof
- Encuentro social y recepción con champán

Tras la entronización, seguirán varios bailes de príncipes y sesiones infantiles de la Narhalla en las próximas semanas. El punto culminante de la temporada será el desfile de Rosenmontag el 16 de febrero de 2026 por el centro de Hof.

Getting There
The Freiheitshalle is located at Kulmbacher Straße 4, 95030 Hof. By car: A9 (Berlin–Munich), exit Hof/Töpen. By train: Hof station, from there a short walk or by bus. Approx. 1 km from the station to the Freiheitshalle.
Admission
Free admission for the enthronement. For other Fasching season events (prince's balls, sessions), tickets are available through the 1st Hof Carnival Society Narhalla.
Dress Code
For the enthronement: festive, preferably with carnival medals, masks, or tailcoats. Carnival attire — from elegant to fun — is welcome.
