Overview

Already in 2025, Beim Strehern in Eslarn opened its doors on several weekends throughout the year, serving its own Zoigl beer. The season followed the fixed rhythm of communal brewing – each Eslarn brewing right holder's turn resulted in their own Zoigl weekends, followed by a maturation phase and finally public serving.

The 2025 Zoigl beer season once again confirmed that Eslarn is one of the vibrant Zoigl locations in the northern Upper Palatinate. Beim Strehern opened on its fixed weekends, served its house-brewed Zoigl beer on tap, and paired it with Upper Palatinate Brotzeit. Lovers of the uncarbonated, naturally cloudy beer specialty traveled from all over Germany.

The concept of communal brewing – where several families share a brewery – is now one of the few living home-brewing traditions in Bavaria and has been UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2018.
