Four-day wine festival in the Zeltingen district with the traditional Mittelmosel wine tasting (65th edition in 2026)
While many Moselle funfairs are primarily organized as folk festivals (Volksfest), the Zeltinger Weinkirmes has an additional, very special element with the Mittelmosel wine tasting: an organized comparative tasting of the region's wines. The 65th edition will take place in 2026 – a testament to the long-standing tradition and the importance of the event in the wine-cultural calendar of the Middle Moselle.
The Mittelmosel wine tasting brings together vintners from Zeltingen, Rachtig, Wehlen, Graach, Bernkastel, Kues, and other Middle Moselle communities. In a structured tasting, visitors can sample the wines from participating wineries comparatively, receive explanations, and purchase their favorites directly on site. The tasting takes place in a specially set-up hall on the festival grounds and forms the qualitative centerpiece of the funfair.
Parallel to the wine tasting, the classic funfair program runs: festival caterer with wine service and regional cuisine, live music in the festival hall and on an outdoor stage, carousels, stalls, and snack stands. Over four days, the festival develops from its Friday evening opening to its Monday conclusion in a quieter but focused format.
The wines from the famous Zeltingen vineyards Sonnenuhr and Schlossberg are known worldwide as Mosel Riesling classics. The Zeltinger Weinkirmes is a rare opportunity to taste these wines in a festive, regionally rooted setting directly from the vintner families.
The 2026 edition marks the 65th iteration of the Mittelmosel wine tasting – an anniversary that will be specially celebrated in the festival program. Over four days, the funfair offers wine enjoyment, tradition, and convivial atmosphere in a village setting.
The Mittelmosel wine tasting takes place in its own hall and is spread over several sessions throughout the four days. The list of participating vintners and tasting times will be published by the organizer in the summer.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Zeltingen-Rachtig is located on the B 53 and is easily accessible by car. By train, there is a connection via the Moseltalbahn (Wittlich or Bullay), with a bus connection to the town.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Wine, food, drinks, and the Mittelmosel wine tasting are paid for on site (tasting package).
