One Route, Two Districts

Zeltingen and Rachtig are two distinct but physically connected districts of the municipality of Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Middle Moselle. The Wein & GenussRoute utilizes this location to create a festival route that makes both districts accessible on foot, connecting wineries and restaurateurs for a joint event.

Late Summer and the Beginning of the Grape Harvest

Mid-September is a particularly charming time in the Moselle Valley: vegetation is fully ripe, the grape harvest begins on the steep slopes, and the late summer weather allows for relaxed walks between the stops. The date of the Wein & GenussRoute also coincides with the "Fröhlicher Weinmarkt" (Happy Wine Market) in Traben-Trarbach, allowing for several Moselle highlights to be combined over an extended weekend.

Wine and Culinary Delights at the Forefront

At the participating locations, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, and sparkling wines will be served by the glass. Depending on the courtyard, Federweißer and Federroter, the first partially fermented wines of the new harvest, will also be offered. The wines are accompanied by a wide range of food options: Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters, soups, salads, and sweet specialties.

Ambiance of the Middle Moselle

Like the other courtyard festivals in Zeltingen-Rachtig, the Wein & GenussRoute focuses on a rather quiet, village-like atmosphere with the direct involvement of the winegrowing families. It is not intended as a Volksfest (public festival), but rather as a coordinated culinary event that highlights the Moselle Valley as a wine and culinary region.
