"The sweetest city festival in Central Germany" — three days of old town programme in Zeitz
Zeitz in the Burgenlandkreis has a long tradition as a sugar town — the confectionery industry of the Zetti brand still shapes the town today. The Zeitzer Zuckerfest plays with this identity and transforms the old town between Altmarkt and Neumarkt into an open festival mile for three days at the beginning of October. The organiser is HEX.event UG, supported by numerous local sponsors — besides Zetti itself, for example, the Stadtwerke Zeitz, Autohaus Apitz, and local banks.
The programme focuses on a mix of concerts on the main stage, children's programmes, church tours, culinary stands, and a handicraft market. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and admission is free — a classic city festival with identity that truly enlivens Zeitz's city centre.
In parallel to the Zuckerfest, the Schwarzbiernacht will take place again in 2026 — confirmed by Stadtwerke Zeitz via their Facebook page. Schwarzbier (dark beer) is a South and Central German speciality that has been brewed in Zeitz for centuries. So, if you want to combine sugar with beer, you've picked the right weekend.
Zeitz is located in the southernmost tip of Saxony-Anhalt, right on the border with Saxony and Thuringia. The town is part of the Burgenlandkreis and has a rich history as a former ducal residence and bishop's city. Moritzburg Castle, St. Michael's Church, and the market square with Renaissance houses characterise the old town — a beautiful backdrop for the sweet festival weekend.
The Zeitzer Zuckerfest 2026 runs from Friday, October 9th, to Sunday, October 11th. The venue is the historic old town between Altmarkt and Neumarkt — the stage, stands, and festival mile will be set up in the city centre. The organiser is HEX.event UG.
In parallel, the Schwarzbiernacht will take place — according to the Facebook announcement by Stadtwerke Zeitz from spring 2026, also on the weekend of October 9–11, 2026. Those who want to enjoy sugar and Schwarzbier at the same time have picked the right weekend.
Exact band names and stage times will be published shortly before the weekend on zuckerfest-zeitz.de and zeitz.de.
Zeitz is located about 50 km south of Halle and 40 km south of Leipzig. Train connections from both cities. By car via the A9 (exit Naumburg or Weißenfels).
Admission to the Zuckerfest is free.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — exact times see programme.
