About SchUMobil at the Worms Wine Mile

The SchUMobil is the mobile exhibition of the World Heritage association SchUM Cities Speyer Worms Mainz and conveys the Jewish heritage of the Central European medieval SchUM communities preserved in Worms, Speyer and Mainz. In 2026, the SchUMobil stops on Saturday, April 25th, and Sunday, April 26th, within the framework of the Worms Wine Mile in the Stadtmauergraben. The SchUMobil is part of the Worms contribution to the anniversary program Jerusalem on the Rhine 2026, which celebrates the unique Jewish-Ashkenazi tradition of the Rhineland in the three SchUM cities and in Israel. The exhibition is free of charge and accessible to all visitors of the Wine Mile. Mediators of the SchUM association accompany the exhibition and answer questions.

SchUM Cities Speyer Worms Mainz UNESCO World Heritage

The three Rhenish cities Speyer, Worms and Mainz — combined in the Hebrew acronym SchUM (Speyer = Schpira, Worms = Warmaisa, Mainz = Magenza) — were designated UNESCO World Heritage in 2021. In the Middle Ages, they formed the intellectual centre of Ashkenazi Judaism in Central Europe and are today preserved with synagogues, mikvahs, cemeteries and houses of learning as exceptional testimonies of Jewish faith and life.

The SchUMobil as a mobile World Heritage exhibition

The SchUMobil is an elaborate mobile exhibition that conveys the history and significance of the SchUM cities at changing locations in the region and beyond. In a fold-out, modular container, it presents texts, graphics, audiovisual stations and interactive elements. The goal is to show the World Heritage at places where it is not self-evidently present: folk festivals, city festivals, schools and public squares.

As guest at the Worms Wine Mile

The 4th Worms Wine Mile takes place in 2026 from April 23rd to 26th in the Stadtmauergraben. The SchUMobil joins the Wine Mile for the last two days — April 25th and 26th. This connects the enjoyment-oriented Worms spring wine festival with a cultural educational element and makes the World Heritage visible to an audience that comes to the Worms city centre specifically for the Wine Mile.

Anniversary program Jerusalem on the Rhine 2026

The Worms appearance of the SchUMobil is part of the anniversary program Jerusalem on the Rhine 2026, organized by the SchUM cities and the SchUM association together with partners in Israel. Throughout the year, exhibitions, concerts, lecture series, synagogue concerts, workshops and pilgrimages dedicated to the Jewish history of the Rhineland take place in Speyer, Worms and Mainz.

Mediators on site

During the two SchUMobil days, mediators of the SchUM association are on site and answer questions about the history of the SchUM cities, the Worms Jewish heritage (synagogue, mikvah, Heiliger Sand) and the anniversary program. The exhibition is free of charge.

SchUMobil at the Worms Wine Mile — edition 2026

The SchUMobil — the mobile exhibition of the World Heritage association SchUM Cities Speyer Worms Mainz — is in 2026 a guest on April 25th and 26th at the Stadtmauergraben Worms, embedded in the 4th Worms Wine Mile. The exhibition conveys the Jewish heritage of the three SchUM cities and is part of the anniversary program Jerusalem on the Rhine 2026. Mediators of the SchUM association accompany the exhibition and are available for conversations. Admission is free. The SchUMobil offers a low-threshold access to the complex World Heritage of the three Rhenish cities and forms a bridge between the enjoyment-oriented format of the Wine Mile and the historical-cultural depth of the UNESCO World Heritage.
