A Format That Makes Worms' Wine Tradition Visible

The MarktWinzer format was launched in 2016 to make the wine tradition of Worms' districts permanently experienceable in the city center. While major wine festivals like the Weinmeile, the Backfischfest, or the wine fair only take place once a year, the MarktWinzer format offers a weekly, accessible meeting platform between vintners, city dwellers, and tourists.

10 Years of Tradition

With the 2026 season, the MarktWinzer celebrate their 10th anniversary. In ten years, the format has become one of the most distinctive institutions of Worms' wine culture. What began as an experimental format has established itself as a firm fixture and is equally appreciated by Worms residents and visitors.

Weekly Rhythm from February to October

The season begins in February with the anniversary opening on February 21, 2026, and runs until the end of October. Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to early afternoon, rotating Worms vintners serve their own wines on the market square. The stands are integrated into the traditional weekly market – wine and market complement each other harmoniously.

Participating Worms Vintners

The most important Worms district vintners are represented: Müsel & Schäfer from Herrnsheim with wines from classic Rhenish-Hessian locations, Spohr from Pfeddersheim with modern interpretations of Riesling, Weinmann with Burgundian and Pinot Noir, Klosterhof Lösch from Abenheim with traditional wine culture, and Helmut Kloos from Horchheim. They alternate weekly, so all vintners are represented multiple times throughout the season.

Market Square Between Dreifaltigkeitskirche and Cathedral

The Worms market square – between the baroque Dreifaltigkeitskirche and the Romanesque St. Peter's Cathedral – is one of the most beautiful squares in the city center. With the MarktWinzer format, it becomes a weekly meeting point for wine lovers and city strollers. The atmosphere combines historic architecture with vibrant enjoyment culture.
