Ten Years of Wormser MarktWinzer

In 2016, the Wormser MarktWinzer format was launched – an initiative that established weekly wine stands by local Worms vintners on the market square. The goal was to make the wine tradition of Worms' districts (Herrnsheim, Abenheim, Pfeddersheim, Horchheim) visible in the city center, while also enlivening the market square on Saturdays. Ten years later, the format has become a firm institution of Worms' culinary culture.

The Market Square as a Stage

The Worms market square – situated between the baroque Dreifaltigkeitskirche and the Romanesque St. Peter's Cathedral – is one of the city's most impressive squares. With the MarktWinzer format, it becomes a weekly meeting point without disturbing the market atmosphere of the classic weekly market: wine and market complement each other.

The Participating Worms Vintners

Müsel & Schäfer from the northern district of Herrnsheim with wines from classic Rhenish-Hessian locations, Weingut Spohr with modern interpretations of Riesling, Weingut Weinmann with Burgundian and Pinot Noir, Klosterhof Lösch from Abenheim with traditional Rhenish-Hessian wine culture, and Helmut Kloos from Horchheim. The selection covers the broad spectrum of the Worms wine landscape.

Anniversary Opening 2026

The opening on February 21, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM, is more than just a season opening – it's a celebration of the tenth anniversary. The Lord Mayor, City Marketing, and the participating vintners will honor the format and look back on a decade of wine experiences. An anniversary wine – specially created for the tenth season – will be presented and served.

A Season Full of Wine Enjoyment

After the anniversary opening, the regular season follows: every Saturday from February to October, alternating vintners at the market square, along with special thematic events such as the anniversary festival on May 23 and participation in the Wine Mile in April.
