Open Sunday shopping with a sea of blossoms in the city center
For years, “Worms blossoms” has marked the official start of spring in Worms. During a weekend in April, florists, garden centers, decorators, and craftspeople transform the pedestrian zone into a cohesive floral arrangement. The shops join in, showcasing spring fashion and complementing the offerings with seasonal specialties.
Each year, the marketing team coordinates a color palette that serves as a common thread throughout the weekend. In 2026, orange, violet, and white will define the staging; plants such as pansies, ranunculus, wallflowers, and forget-me-nots will be the focus of the floral concepts. Wormser Marketing GmbH coordinates the concept together with the participating businesses.
On Sunday, April 12, 2026, city center shops will open their doors from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for Sunday shopping. The unusual opening hours attract visitors from the entire Rhine-Neckar region and Rheinhessen, who combine the blooming cityscape with shopping and café visits.
A special highlight in 2026 is the soft opening of the restored synagogue district on April 12. After about ten years of renovation and five years of accompanying excavations, the synagogue, the medieval mikveh (ritual bath), and the newly designed synagogue garden will be accessible again. Free short tours of the mikveh are announced; the SchUMobil — the information vehicle of the SchUM Association — will be present in the city center.
The spring weekend combines floristry, retail, and cultural highlights for a harmonious city center experience. Families will find a child-friendly accompanying program, and culture enthusiasts can experience Worms' Jewish heritage in a world premiere of the restored synagogue district.
Several providers offer combined packages including floristry workshops, café promotions, and guided tours for the weekend.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by Worms Marketing GmbH. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Worms city center, pedestrian zone, market square, and adjacent streets.
Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 12, 2026. Free short tours of the mikveh — times available at worms-erleben.de.
Worms main train station is a short walk to the city center. Parking available at Adenauer-Ring and Dom-Center.
