74th edition of the largest marksmen and folk festival between the Harz mountains and the Heide region in Wolfsburg's Allerpark
The Wolfsburg Marksmen and Folk Festival is one of the most traditional and largest folk festivals in Northern Germany. With around 400,000 visitors per edition, it is clearly the number one folk festival in the region between the Harz mountains and the Lüneburg Heath. The 74th edition in 2026 continues the tradition maintained since the 1950s, offering a diverse festival program for all generations over ten days.
The festival grounds are located in Allerpark—Wolfsburg's green lung between the Volkswagen Arena (home of VfL Wolfsburg) and the Allersee lake with its swimming facilities. This central, easily accessible location makes visiting the festival uncomplicated: public transport connections by bus, ample parking, and short distances to surrounding attractions are ideal for families and day-trippers from the entire surrounding area.
At the heart of the festival is the marksmen tradition: shooting competitions, king's shooting, festive parades of marksmen in traditional costume, and the ceremonial proclamation of the new majesties at the prestigious Wolfsburg Castle. In addition, the festival grounds offer an impressive variety of amusement rides, carousels, and roller coasters, culinary specialties ranging from bratwurst and candied almonds to cocktails, and a beer tent atmosphere. Live concerts on the opening weekend, the Festival of Travesty with Maria Crohn, the senior citizens' afternoon, and the family-friendly Family Day with reduced prices round off the program. Two spectacular fireworks displays—'Aller in Flames' to kick things off and the grand aerial fireworks for the proclamation—provide visual highlights.
The program for the 74th edition spans ten days, offering a dense schedule for all age groups, from the spectacular opening with a live concert and fireworks to the more relaxed senior and family days, culminating in the festive royal proclamation at Wolfsburg Castle.
