Forty Years of Stadtlauf Tradition

With its 40th edition, the Wolfenbütteler Stadtlauf celebrates a significant anniversary in 2026. For four decades, a popular run has been held here every year through the historic city centre – a format that has set standards in the region and shaped generations of runners. From the first steps of many children in the Bambini run to the 100th Stadtlauf of dedicated regular participants, the range of participation is broad.

MTV Wolfenbüttel as Organiser

The Wolfenbütteler Stadtlauf is organised by MTV Wolfenbüttel e.V., one of the oldest sports clubs in Lower Saxony. The MTV has decades of experience in organizing large running events and can rely on an experienced team of helpers. This makes the Stadtlauf an event that sets the highest standards in terms of safety, logistics, and atmosphere.

Route through the Historic Lessing City

The route takes advantage of Wolfenbüttel's historic city centre with its half-timbered houses, the Marktstraße, the Schlossplatz, and the charming alleys. The experience of running through a closed historic backdrop is one of the Stadtlauf's great strengths and distinguishes it from many city runs in modern city centres.

Popular Sport for Everyone

The Stadtlauf traditionally offers several distances for different levels: from the child-friendly Bambini run to 5 km and 10 km, and even longer distances for ambitious runners. This makes the event accessible enough to encourage beginners and challenging enough to test experienced runners.
