Bürgermarkt – a Wittmund trademark

The Wittmunder Bürgermarkt is one of the most famous Volksfests in the Wittmund district and attracts thousands of visitors from the region and beyond every year. In 2026, the 54th edition will be celebrated – a testament to the festival's deep roots in the town's life. From July 17th to 19th, 2026, three days of programming, music, Pudding Olympics, and showmen will shape the event.

Three stages, three atmospheres

What sets the Bürgermarkt apart is its spatial distribution across three squares in Wittmund's town center:

• Market Square – main stage, showmen, festival mile
• Church Square (colloquially known as "Pudding") – traditional heart of the event
• Historic Market Square – with additional stages and program items

The three stages – Sparkassen-EG stage, RVB stage, and Watt'n'Event stage – offer a diverse program: live bands, cover bands, artists from East Frisia, and a varied entertainment offering.

The Pudding Olympics

One of the Bürgermarkt's trademarks is the Pudding Olympics on the Church Square. Teams compete in quirky competitions centered around pudding disciplines – guaranteed atmosphere, sure to tickle your funny bone. The format is a lovable anomaly in the North German Volksfest calendar and shapes the Bürgermarkt's identity.

Karaoke, Playback, and Flea Market

In addition to the stage concerts, karaoke competitions and playback shows provide interactive elements. The flea market on Sunday transforms the town center into a huge bargain-hunting course and attracts a wide audience. For the youngest guests, there are carousels and rides.

Organizers with tradition

The Bürgermarkt is supported by the Bürger- und Verkehrsverein Wittmund e.V., a traditional local association with great volunteer commitment. The mix of traditional program items, modern music, and culinary offerings makes the Bürgermarkt one of East Frisia's most attractive events.
