Festival from a Cultural Initiative
Essingen is a municipality with around 6,000 inhabitants in the Ostalb district (state of Baden-Württemberg, East Württemberg), located at the transition from the Swabian Jura to the Albuch between Aalen and Heidenheim. The WIR-Festival is organized by the Kulturinitiative Schloss-Scheune Essingen e.V. — a volunteer-run cultural association that operates the historic Schloss-Scheune on Bahnhofstraße, making it one of the most important venues for young culture in the Aalen region.

Schloss-Scheune as a venue
The Schloss-Scheune Essingen is the historic farm building of the former Essingen Castle, now converted into a cultural venue and used by the Schloss-Scheune Essingen e.V. association. The adjacent Schlosspark forms the natural festival grounds — meadows, old trees, the castle facade as a backdrop. The rural, charming atmosphere clearly distinguishes the WIR-Festival from large urban festivals.

Getting there
You can reach Essingen via the A 7 (exit Aalen/Westhausen, approx. 5 km) and the B 29. By train: Essingen station on the Remsbahn (Stuttgart–Aalen), from there a 5-minute walk to the Schloss-Scheune (Bahnhofstraße 7). Parking available at the Schlosspark and in the town center.
