Traditional wine festival with proclamation of the Wine Maids and parade on the third weekend of September
The Winzerfest Rech boasts a tradition spanning over sixty years. Since 1964, the small wine-growing village on the Ahr has celebrated its festival season with its own format: the wine festival on the third weekend of September, which coincides with the start of the grape harvest. This combination of festivities and the beginning of wine work makes the festival authentic and gives it its special atmosphere.
Instead of a single Wine Queen, Rech has the tradition of Wine Maids – a group of representatives who represent the village externally. On Saturday, the new Wine Maids are solemnly proclaimed. The ceremony follows its own, locally developed format, combining club life with festive conviviality.
The highlight for the entire village is the festive parade on Sunday afternoon. With the new Wine Maids at the forefront, the clubs, music bands, and wine-growing families march through the narrow streets of Rech. This portrayal of village community has been an indispensable part of the festival for decades.
Rech is located in the heart of the Rotweinwanderweg (Red Wine Hiking Trail) and is appreciated by hikers and cyclists as a pleasant stopover. The Winzerfest can be ideally combined with a day hike from Dernau via Rech to Mayschoß or with a climb to the Saffenburg. The Pinot Noir and Frühburgunder from the Rech vintners make the combination of sport and enjoyment perfect.
The festival is organized by the Heimat- und Tourismusverein Rech (Local and Tourism Association Rech) together with the wine-growing families and associations of the village. It is one of the oldest and most traditional wine festivals on the Mittelahr.
The complete stage and parade program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
