Overview

The 2025 edition of the Winterwald at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz ran from November 20 to December 23, 2025, daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. On the program: around 150 half-timbered huts on real forest floor, the twelve-meter-high fir tree with 40,000 lights, the singing angel with two performances a day, and the usual diverse offering of arts and crafts, mulled wine, and Northern German market cuisine.

The 2025 edition took place as planned between Karstadt, Thalia Theater, and Perle-Passage and attracted significant visitor numbers over its five-week run. The Winterwald was once again among Hamburg's most visited city center Christmas markets in 2025, alongside the Historic Christmas Market at City Hall, the White Magic at Jungfernstieg, and Santa Pauli on the Reeperbahn.

For Hamburg-Mitte, the market has become a firm fixture of the pre-Christmas season: families, tourists, and employees from the surrounding shops and office buildings populate the square from early afternoon into the evening.
